While I was painting this creek a lyrebird came down and bathed in the pool in the centre! It was just one of those magic moments that happen when you are painting outdoors.

The creek runs through limestone country in the Wombeyan Caves Reserve - sometimes on the surface as pools and sometimes invisibly below the ground, adding to the mystery of the area and keeping it greener than might be expected. A lovely area for all birds, we enjoyed exploring it as well as waiting to be 'found' by bathing lyrebirds!

The watercolour paints used were Artists' quality, Winsor and Newton and Art Spectrum brands and the paper was from a Saunder's block of 300gsm, cold pressed. It is unframed.
