This is a childhood memory. The 5th November or Guy Fawkes' night was always celebrated, it is the day before my Birthday and always seemed more exciting! At the school where my father taught they built a massive bonfire,which would be lit and the "Guy" would be on the top. Fireworks would be set off and we would stand around the fire watching the fireworks and holding sparklers. At the end of the evening there would be jacket potatoes with lashings of butter and piping hot mugs of cocoa!
